Landscapes

A selection of landscape paintings from the past two + decades, 1985 - 2009. These focus primarily on parks and rural landscapes. The past century has seen enormous changes in the rural countryside. Many of these changes have been detrimental, both in agriculture and environmental stewardship, and from an aesthetic standpoint. It is time that the artists reclaim the rural environment and thereby help shape perception and promote change.

Cityscapes

I have long been attracted to the urban landscape, both from an aesthetic and from a philosophical standpoint. The city street presents a vital and robust kind of theatrical space, full of drama and human display. It is like catnip to a committed Realist.

Older Works

These are works from the period between the mid-1970s to early 1990s. They represent works that were documented with slides, and which have long since been sold or in some cases stolen. In most cases the slides were somewhat compromised by time and inadequate storage, and have been somewhat revived by the magic of Photoshop. In so doing, the artist has tried to be faithful to the memory of the work, and has included them here to provide examples of work from the earlier period.
